Minister François-Philippe Champagne in launching five new multidisciplinary research hubs:

Through Canada’s Biomanufacturing and Life Sciences Strategy (the Strategy), the Government of Canada is investing more than $2.2 billion over seven years to continue growing a strong, competitive biomanufacturing and life sciences sector, and to ensure Canada is prepared for future pandemics by increasing domestic capacity through investments and partnerships to produce life-saving vaccines and therapeutics. https://lnkd.in/gne8UMd2

The PRAIRIE-POC Center in the PRAIRIE Hub for Pandemic Preparedness is an alliance of the Universities of Calgary (Lead), Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan with the mission to accelerate the development and commercialization of sensing reagents/biologics, in-vitro diagnostic devices, molecular diagnostic assays, sample-to-result point-of-care systems, and diagnostic equipment for potential pandemic pathogens. Our strong track records in medical diagnostics, biomedical engineering, SME acceleration, and strategic industry partnerships will put us in a strong position to lead this center.
